Permits

Permits ensure that construction and development in the City of Maize meet safety codes, zoning regulations, and community standards. By requiring permits, the City helps protect property values, safeguard residents, and promote quality growth.

When do you need a permit?

Permits are generally required for:

  • New construction (residential, commercial, or industrial).
  • Demo/wrecking.
  • Additions, remodels, or structural alterations.
  • Decks and fences.
  • Electrical, plumbing, and mechanical work.
  • Roofing and siding.
  • Accessory structures (garages, sheds, carports).
  • Swimming Pools.
  • Solar Panels.
  • Driveway and approach.
  • Signs.
  • Work in the right-of-way (streets, sidewalks, utilities).
  • Development or construction in a floodplain.

If you are unsure whether your project requires a permit, contact the City of Maize before starting work. Call 316-722-7561 or email customerservice@maizeks.gov.
