CITY OF MAIZE ANNOUNCES RIBBON CUTTING FOR NEW INCLUSIVE PLAYGROUND

Community Invited to Celebrate New Playground at Maize City Park

MAIZE, KS – October 26, 2026 – The City of Maize is excited to announce the completion of its newest inclusive playground at Maize City Park. To celebrate this exciting addition to the community, the City will host an official ribbon-cutting ceremony on Thursday, October 29, 2026, at 1:00 p.m. at Maize City Park.

The new playground represents another investment in creating welcoming, accessible, and engaging recreational opportunities for children and families of all abilities. The new play structure was thoughtfully selected to complement the park's existing playground equipment while expanding opportunities for inclusive play.

Versasport was selected as the contractor for the project in early 2026 following a competitive review of three submissions. The Maize Park and Tree Board, working closely with the City's Public Works staff, played an essential role in evaluating the proposals and selecting a design that best complemented the existing park amenities while addressing the community's need for more inclusive recreational opportunities.

"This project is another example of the City's commitment to improving the quality of life for our residents and creating spaces where everyone feels welcome," said City Manager Nick Gregory. "We appreciate the dedication of our Park and Tree Board and Public Works staff in selecting a playground that not only enhances our park but also provides new opportunities for children of different abilities to play and interact together."

The City also extends its appreciation to Versasport for its work in bringing this project to completion.
